Montage is looking for a Data Scientist to join our growing team. Qualified candidates will have the knowledge, experience and articulation required to develop elegant solutions to complex data challenges. The role supports various programmatic teams within Montage Marketing Group.

This is a full-time, exempt position working a hybrid schedule of home office and at Montage’s McLean, VA office. Annual salary for this position is $80,000 - $90,000.

About the Role

The Data Scientist will support the Data & Analytics Team in the evaluation, management, and continued development of cloud environments and ETL processes. The ideal candidate will identify methods for optimizing a relational data hub from existing data sets under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgement. The individual will also serve as a contributor and mentor to junior staff and non-technical team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or another quantitative field, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience in a data scientist role.
  • Advanced knowledge in programming for data analysis (R, Python, SQL) with a functional knowledge of data visualization libraries such as matplotlib or ggplot2.
  • Knowledge in software development principles, architecture, and statistical methodologies.
  • Experience working with relational databases, SQL Server preferred.
  • An intellectual curiosity to break down and understand complex business problems, determine incongruities, define a solution, articulate workflow, and implement data solutions.
  • Must be a team player and have experience working with both internal and external clients.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to learn through scattered resources, stay self-motivated, and work with little to no supervision.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills, especially in translating actionable, analytical insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Must have prior authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

The core responsibility of the Data Scientist is to analyze and optimize the existing cloud environment. This individual will leverage their expertise to implement processes which manage data wrangling and automation. The ideal candidate will be mindful of and lead the development in documentation and definitions as part of data resource management.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to assess needs, articulate requirements, and strategize approaches/solutions.
  • Build ETL processes, data models, measures, and visualizations necessary to build reliable dashboards for client's internal and external.
  • Evaluate model design, methodology, and performance, identifying risks, improvements, and opportunities during implementation process and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and maintain data pipelines proactively to ensure high service availability.
  • Leverage software development methodologies and custom scripts to automate data operations and develop new data tools/solutions.
  • Establish protocols, technical documentation, and training materials.
  • Employ statistical methodologies to provide insights and better enable decision-making with key stakeholders.
